In the last episode, I only introduced the travel destinations of Seoul, the capital of Korea. I have already been to Seoul! Or, I want to travel to a place other than Seoul! For those who do, this time I would like to introduce travel destinations in cities in Korea other than Seoul.
1. Hwaseong Temporary Palace
In the previous part, I introduced the five major palaces in Seoul. If you go to the city of Suwon near Seoul, there is a palace called Hwaseong Haenggung. Hwaseong Haenggung is also the location where the drama 'Dae Jang Geum' was filmed. For those of you who enjoyed 'Dae Jang Geum', how about visiting the Hwaseong Temporary Palace at least once during your trip to Korea?
Hwaseong Haenggung, like the previous five palaces in Seoul, is also accessible to adults for 1,500 won per person, so you can visit without any burden. Also, if you purchase stamp paper at the Haenggung ticket office, you can experience the stamps located throughout the Haenggung Palace. Especially if you are traveling with a family with young children, you can create a good experience for your children, right?
Also, like the five major palaces in Seoul, the last Wednesday of every month is Culture Day, and you can enter for free at Hwaseong Haenggung Palace if you are wearing a hanbok.
2. Suwon Hwaseong Fortress
If you visit Mars Temporary Palace, there is a place you must not miss. It is Suwon Hwaseong Fortress! Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is an old castle wall, so you can enjoy your trip by slowly walking along the wall. You can enjoy your trip while viewing the gates in the middle of the fortress wall.
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is also not free, but it is paid, but it is not expensive at all at 1,000 won per adult. Another way to see Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is the Hwaseong Royal Car. It is a service that allows you to go around Suwon Hwaseong Fortress in a train-like car. In addition, you can listen to the commentary through the speaker while riding the Hwaseong Train. The commentary is in Korean, but you can listen to the explanation in English, Japanese, and Chinese through the audio system at each seat. However, earphones are not provided separately, so it is recommended that you bring earphones before boarding.
Hwaseong Royal Train is very popular, so if you go to Suwon Hwaseong on the same day and try to buy a ticket, it may already be sold out, so it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance. It varies slightly depending on where you start, but it is not expensive even for adults, from 4,000 won to 6,000 won per person.
However, one thing to be aware of when using the Hwaseong Train is that it does not operate on snowy or rainy days!
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is also a World Heritage Site. After viewing Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, how about going to the Suwon Hwaseong Museum to learn more about the history of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress?
3. Jeonju Hanok Village
If you are fascinated by the charm of Korean tradition, there is one place you must visit. This is Jeonju Hanok Village! It is a village made up of hanok, traditional Korean houses. There are many hanbok rental shops in Jeonju Hanok Village, and many people wear hanbok. You can feel as if you came to old Korea.
Also, Jeonju is famous for its delicious food in Korea. Jeonju Hanok Village has many restaurants selling traditional Korean food and cafes selling traditional desserts, as well as a variety of street foods.
People who only knew about Korea outside of Seoul must have felt the wonderful side of Korea besides Seoul on this occasion. Why don't you just think of Seoul as a trip to Korea and visit other cities?
