Dakgalbi is a representative Korean dish made by marinating chicken breast and chicken legs, which are the leanest parts of chicken, in spicy sauce, adding vegetables, sweet potatoes, and rice cakes, and grilling or stir-frying them on an iron plate. One unit refers to the amount of lean meat cut from a chicken leg or half a chicken breast. 2 units for iron plate and 3 units for charcoal grill are treated as one serving. Dongchimi is sometimes served as a side dish, and when the chicken ribs are finished, fried rice and stir-fried noodles (sari) are often selected or mixed.
