Origin and history of the name Dongseongro
The name 'Dongseong-ro' is derived from what used to be the eastern wall of Daegu Eupseong. Daegu Eupseong is a fortress surrounding Daegu during the Joseon Dynasty and was completed in 1396. The eastern wall of the town was called Dongseong, and the road along the wall became Dongseong-ro. Dongseong-ro is currently the largest downtown area in Daegu, where various shopping, food, culture, and entertainment are lined up.
