Everyone, it’s been a week since the semester started. I think a lot of new foreign students will be entering the university this semester. Today, we will introduce the essential map app in Korea for foreign freshmen!

1️⃣ Korea Map App - Kakao Map

The first is the Kakao Map app. Kakao Map is Kakao’s map service. This is a service that made Street View known as Korea-only Road View. Kakao Map is one of Korea's representative map and navigation services.

Kakao Map shows roads and places in Korea in detail. It also displays real-time traffic conditions. This helps you avoid traffic jams and find faster routes. It also provides information and route guidance on public transportation such as buses, subways, and taxis. We can choose the route we want from among the routes recommended by the map. It's really convenient.

2️⃣ Korea Map App - Naver Map

The second thing I would like to introduce is the Naver Map app. Naver Maps is the app I use most often. The Naver Map app is a very popular app in Korea as well. The Naver Map app has similar functions to Kakao Map, and there are also English and Chinese versions, so new international students can use it comfortably. You can download and use the Naver Map app from the App Store.

3️⃣ Differences between Korea Kakao Map and Naver Map

So what is the difference between these two apps? Both apps provide map data within Korea, but the design and accuracy of the maps may differ slightly. I think you should mainly choose depending on what style you prefer.

Naver Map and Kakao Map each have slightly different unique convenience features. For example, Naver Maps allows you to rate and save places through “like” and “stamp” functions. Kakao Map provides a “route-finding designated driving” service that allows users to reach their destination without driving themselves.
