The Cheoram Station coal processing facility was built in 1935 and is the first anthracite coal processing facility in Korea. You can experience the process of selecting and processing coal. This place is only open until June, so hurry up and visit. The tour departs from the Cheoram-dong Office, 2 Cheoram-gil, Taebaek-si, Gangwon-do, and operates only on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The tour is free but requires advance reservation. Cheoram Coal Mine History Village

Across from Cheoram Station is Cheoram Coal Mine History Village. This is a living history museum that preserves the appearance of an old coal mining town. If you walk along the alleys of the village, you will find the Memorial to the Miners in Germany, where you can see traces of the miners who left for Germany. Don’t miss the tiptoe building! It is a unique structure that was created when people in the past expanded their buildings toward the valley. Here you can truly feel like you have traveled back in time.

Sambang-dong Observatory

Sambang-dong Observatory is a place where you can see the entire Cheoram area at a glance. You can see both the Kkachibal building and the coal mining facilities at Cheoram Station. If you climb up to the observatory, you can look down on the history of the coal mine with a panoramic view. The sculptures of miners and their families are especially moving. Gyeongbuk Restaurant & Yeokjeon Cafe

At Cheoram Coal Mine History Village, you can also experience making your own briquettes. You can experience making briquettes at Gyeongbuk Restaurant. Pour water into the powder, knead it, place it in a briquette mold, and hit it with a hammer to complete it. It will be a good experience for children too. And you can taste briquette bread at Yeokjeon Cafe. Briquette bread filled with bokbunja bean paste will soothe the fatigue of travel, and children will also love it.
