When applying to college or graduate school in Korea, the study plan is an important document that can show the admissions committee the applicant's research capabilities. Especially for international students, it is important to emphasize how your research topic is related to Korea and how you will utilize your unique perspective. Today, I will share useful methods and tips for international students when writing a study plan.

1️⃣ Clarity and specificity of the research topic

The most important thing when writing a study plan is to clearly state your research topic. The key is to describe your interests and research topic specifically and clearly state the problem you want to solve through it. For example, you should clearly set your research topic as “The impact of news reports on new media platforms on public opinion formation and the attitudes and opinions of the recipients.” In this way, clearly state the core topic that your research will cover and emphasize the social or academic importance that supports it.

2️⃣ Emphasize research background and problem awareness, and present research methods

As an international student, you must explain persuasively why you want to do research in Korea and why the topic is important. It is especially important to describe how your background and experience are related to the research topic. In addition, it is essential to describe the methodology in detail in the research plan. It is recommended that you explain the specific methodology for conducting the research and logically explain why this method is appropriate.

3️⃣ Academic and self-development plan

In addition to research, it would be good to include specific plans for your studies after admission in your academic plan. For example, you could write about how you will achieve academic growth through class participation, academic conference attendance, and collaboration with fellow researchers.

4️⃣ Clear and concise language

Complex and long-winded documents can confuse the reviewers. Therefore, it is important to convey the main idea in clear and concise sentences. If you have difficulty writing in Korean, it is important to use simple vocabulary and sentence structures to convey your thoughts!
