One of the symbolic items of Korean college life is the hakjam! The hakjam is not just a simple jumper, but an important element that makes you feel a sense of belonging. When you first enroll, your department often orders them as a group, so check in advance so you don’t miss the deadline! If you miss the deadline, you’ll have no choice but to buy them next semester or next year. If you walk around campus wearing the hakjam, you might naturally have a chance to talk to your seniors!
Student IDs are required for various purposes, such as using the school library, entering and exiting, and getting discounts at restaurants! These days, many schools support mobile student IDs, so check them out. Also, if you plan to use public transportation frequently, it would be a good idea to apply for a student ID with a transportation card function.
The beginning of the semester is a good time to join a club or group. You can make friends through activities that interest you and enrich your life in Korea! There are many communities for international students in particular, so look for them on SNS or through school notices! It may be unfamiliar because it is your first time in Korea, but you will quickly become accustomed to it as you adjust.
