I went to Hanyang University Festival last Friday! I actually didn't have high expectations, but... it was a total hit. The stage lineup was so good, it was great from start to finish. The pretty lights, the thrilling sound, and... my favorite 'Jannabi', everything was perfect. Let's watch it together~
If you are a student or traveler in Korea, there is one cultural experience you absolutely must not miss. It is the Korean university festival, commonly called Daedongje in Korean. Korean university festivals are usually held in the spring semester from May to June, or the fall semester from September to October. The most notable thing about university festivals is the main performances at night. Many schools invite famous idols or bands to hold large-scale concerts, and surprisingly, these are free. For example, popular K-pop singers such as Jannabi, Cherry Filter, Zico, Ive, New Jeans, Red Velvet, Espa, and Jay Park have performed at various university festivals, so the quality is very high.
And during the festival, food trucks, pubs, and snack booths run by students will be set up all over the campus. Tteokbokki, fried chicken, skewers, dumplings, pancakes, and even simple alcoholic beverages will be sold! There are also experience booths, game zones, and merchandise sales zones run by school clubs and departments, so it is a great place to enjoy interactive content.
I like Jannabi so much that I skipped the Chung-Ang University festival and went to Hanyang University. I got there late and (G)I-DLE was performing. The Yuqi I saw on stage was really… so pretty that I couldn’t speak. She was much cuter than on TV and in photos, she had a lot of charisma, and she really shined on stage. And the “Romantic Cat” that Cherry Filter sang was also really good.
The last one was the Jannabi stage that I had been eagerly waiting for! The stage lights slowly changed, and the members appeared one by one as the guitar melody flowed. It rained a lot that day, and Jannabi's performance + rain, isn't that almost a scene from a movie? 'For Lovers Who Hesitate', 'In the Name of Love', 'She'... Everyone sang along in the rain, and that moment was the epitome of youth. I think the emotions of that day will remain in my heart for a long time.
