Have you ever been to Byeolmadang Library? I went for the first time recently and loved it. Today, I'd like to introduce you to Byeolmadang Library.

1️⃣ Introduction to Byeolmadang Library

There are two Byeolmadang libraries: one in Gangnam, Seoul, and one in Suwon. Both are free and open to the public.

Opened in 2017 at Seoul's COEX Mall, Gangnam Byeolmadang Library has become much more than just a place to read books. It's also a beloved cultural space and a photo-worthy spot. In early 2024, Shinsegae introduced the Byeolmadang Library brand to its second location with the opening of Starfield, a large-scale shopping mall in Suwon.

2️⃣ Byeolmadang Library - Gangnam

First of all, the Gangnam branch is located on the first basement level of Starfield COEX Mall at 513 Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, making it very conveniently accessible from Samseong Station on Subway Line 2 or Bongeunsa Station on Subway Line 9! I got off at Samseong Station on Subway Line 2 and it was only a five-minute walk. As soon as you enter, the soft lighting and spacious atrium create a beautiful "book forest" feeling. The Gangnam branch is a cultural center open to everyone, with a spectacular view of a large bookshelf and many events.

3️⃣ Byeolmadang Library - Suwon

The Suwon branch is a newly opened Byeolmadang Library, which opened on January 26, 2024. It's a relaxing reading space with a trendy LP listening area and a spacious layout. The Suwon Byeolmadang Library is located inside Starfield Mall in Jangan-gu, Suwon. It can be a bit tricky to find, so we recommend exploring the duplex layout from the 4th to the 7th floors. It has approximately 32,000 books and a cozy café.
