Do you know what the hottest place in Seoul is these days? There's a saying these days: "Samcheong-dong is better than Seongsu-dong." I've been to Seongsu-dong many times, but I've never been to Samcheong-dong, so I was curious and went for the first time this time. It was prettier than I expected, and I was very satisfied! I took a lot of beautiful pictures!
Samcheong-dong is a legal and administrative district in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Recently, it's been gaining attention as a cultural and artistic space, blending traditional Korean houses with modern architecture. Many old Korean houses still remain in the alleys, and these renovated buildings are now filled with cafes, galleries, workshops, and small restaurants. A variety of styles coexist, including brunch cafes, garden cafes, and rooftop terrace cafes. There are so many beautiful cafes that it was hard to decide which one to visit.
Venturing into the alleys off the main street reveals many quiet spaces with fewer visitors, and it's fun to discover unexpected landscapes and small works of art within them. Unlike downtown Seoul, it felt relaxed and leisurely. There were so many photogenic spots that many people were snapping photos. At the corner with the "Bukchon-ro 5-gil" sign, sunlight filtered through the old brick buildings, creating a beautiful scene. I took a picture.
And there were so many buildings with Hanok-like design. I really love Hanok, so I was so happy. It was a day where I could fully experience the traditional beauty of Seoul. The scenery of brick walls and traditional roofs harmoniously resembled a "small village in Seoul." I understood why Samcheong-dong is called "a street that's just nice to walk." Every scene felt like a movie.
