Do you have any summer vacation plans this year?
Today, I would like to write about a domestic travel destination in Korea that I really want to visit in the summer.
1. Korea summer destinations; Gangwon-do Sokcho
Located on the east coast of Gangwon-do, Sokcho is a city in harmony with beautiful mountains and the sea. It takes two and a half hours by express bus from Seoul, and for your information, there is no direct KTX line from Seoul Station to Sokcho. If you are using a train, you can take the KTX from Seoul Station to Gangneung Station and then take a bus from Gangneung to Sokcho. It takes about 2 hours from Seoul Station to Gangneung Station, and about 1.5 hours from Gangneung to Sokcho.
(1) Sokcho Beach
Sokcho Beach is the largest beach in Sokcho, a 5-minute walk from the Sokcho Express Bus Terminal. Transportation is convenient and close to downtown Sokcho. There are many restaurants and pretty cafes around the beach, so you can heal while looking at the sea.
(2) Sokcho Fish Market
One of the must-see places in Sokcho is the fish market, where you can enjoy Sokcho's representative food. Originally, Sokcho is famous for sundae, but in this market, in addition to the common sundae we are familiar with, Ibai sundae and squid sundae are famous. Those who like Sundae!! Please give it a try!
(3) Yeonggeumjeong
This is a popular tourist course where you can see the 360-degree sea of Sokcho. It's pretty enough even during the day, but it's said that it's even more beautiful if you go during sunrise and sunset.
2. Korea Summer Destinations; Gangneung, Gangwon-do
Have you ever heard of a city called 'Gangneung'? Gangneung is famous as a travel destination for many Koreans in the summer. It takes about 3 hours by bus from Seoul and about 2 hours by KTX. It's a city I want to visit at least once while studying in Korea!
(1) Gyeongpo Beach/Jeongdongjin Beach/Gangmun Beach
When you say Gangneung, you mean the sea!! There are a total of 3 Gangneung beaches that are considered a must-visit course in Gangneung! There are Gyeongpo Beach, the largest in Gangneung, Jeongdongjin Beach close to downtown Gangneung, and Gangmun Beach located south of Gyeongpo Beach. You can enjoy the beautiful sea of Gangneung no matter which beach you go to.
(2) Haslla Art World
This is a hot spot for life shots on Instagram. Exhibits are displayed up to the third basement floor, and the size of the museum is quite large. And above all, the point is that there are many pretty photo zones. Among them, the highlight of Haslla Art World is Donggurang Photo Zone. It is a popular spot where you have to take a picture even if you have to line up.
(3) Drama location
Gangneung is actually a famous city for filming dramas and album jackets. First, the Jumunjin breakwater was used for the filming of the drama 'Goblin'. In the drama, it appears as the place where the protagonist Ji Eun-tak (Kam Go-eun) and the goblin Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) first met.
Also, they said that the BTS album jacket was filmed in Gangneung!
Album jacket photo shoot for BTS You Never Walk Alone was taken at a bus stop near the filming location of Goblin, and many tourists, including fans, continue to visit. This stop is not a place where the bus actually stops, but it is said to be a photo zone for tourists.
