I recently watched the Korean movie Love in the Big City on Netflix. I liked it so much that I wanted to introduce it to you today.

Love in the Big City is a movie that was released on October 1, 2024. It is based on a best-selling novel of the same name. The movie received a lot of attention immediately after its release, surpassing 870,000 viewers. Last October, I saw on Instagram that a lot of my friends went to see this movie. The rating is also high at 8.33. And this movie is clearly different from existing romance or growth dramas. It may seem like a provocative phrase, “Crazy X meets gay!”, but it contains the intense lives, love, and identity exploration of young people living in the city.

2️⃣ Korean Movie - Introducing the main characters of Love in the Big City

The main character Jae-hee is a character that overwhelms your gaze the moment you see him. He has a bold and flashy style, and a personality that doesn't care about other people's opinions. On the outside, he always looks confident and free, but inside, he is a lonely and complex character more than anyone else. This movie starts with the story of a gay man, but it doesn't stop at a queer narrative. Rather, I think it contains universal emotions that we all feel, such as the longing for a sense of belonging, the fear of being loved, and the process of accepting oneself.

I think it's a movie with delicate emotional endings. I liked that it allowed us to follow the characters' emotions with just calm background music and the movement of the eyes, rather than loud music. Above all, actress Kim Go-eun is pretty and her acting is very good, so I was deeply impressed.
