Hello everyone~
Today, I'm going to introduce you to Teacher's Day! Teacher's Day is a national holiday celebrated every year on May 15th in Korea. Not long ago, I spent Teacher's Day with my professors and seniors.
The origin of Teacher's Day is also quite interesting. It is said to have started in 1963 as a 'Teacher's Day' event where members of the Youth Red Cross (JRC) in the Chungnam region visited sick or retired teachers! In 1964, Korea designated May 26 as 'Teacher's Day', and in 1965, the date was moved to May 15, the birthday of King Sejong, who created the Hunminjeongeum, and it has continued to this day.
On this day, students give carnations to their teachers to express their gratitude, or prepare handwritten letters and small gifts. I also wanted to express my gratitude, so I wrote a letter to my teacher, and I also prepared small gifts and flowers with my seniors. They were happier than I expected, so I was also happy.
Teacher's Day is not just a day to thank teachers and professors, but it is a precious day that reminds us that we have all grown up under someone's teachings. On this Teacher's Day, have you expressed your gratitude to the teachers, professors, or people who have guided you in life?
Today, I introduced you to Teacher's Day in Korea. Do you have a Teacher's Day in your country? Please share your warm Teacher's Day story in the comments :)
I hope you all have a happy day~
