1️⃣ What is the QS World University Rankings?

First, let me briefly explain what the QS World University Rankings are. The QS World University Rankings is a ranking published annually by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a British university evaluation agency, targeting universities around the world. The evaluation criteria reflect various factors such as academic reputation, graduate reputation, number of students per professor, number of paper citations, percentage of foreign professors, and percentage of foreign students. Therefore, it is a highly reliable indicator that international students often use as a reference when preparing to study abroad.

2️⃣ Korean University

So where will Korean universities rank in the 2026 QS rankings? One of the most notable things about this year’s rankings is that KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) was excluded from the rankings altogether. A total of 43 Korean universities were named in the 2026 QS rankings. Of these, only three universities made it into the world’s top 100: Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University. These three universities complete the “SKY” lineup that represents Korea. In addition to the top 100, there are six universities that are in the world’s top 200. POSTECH, Sungkyunkwan University, and Hanyang University also made it into the world’s top 200.
