Since 1994, it has evaluated universities around the world and published a new ranking every year. Recently, the latest QS University Rankings for 2024 have been released. The 2024 ranking introduces three new metrics, enabling a comprehensive assessment of universities. The first is sustainability. Recognizing the growing importance of sustainable practices, this indicator measures a university's commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The second is employment outcomes. This indicator assesses the employability of graduates and reflects the university's ability to prepare students for the job market. The third is an international research network. This indicator highlights the importance of global cooperation. That is, it evaluates the strength and scope of the university's international research partnerships. Rankings of universities have changed a bit based on the new metric.

The changing parts are a bit unfavorable to Korean universities. So, the ranking of many universities in Korea has declined.

First of all, the 1st place in the QS University Rankings in 2024 was taken by MIT, an engineering university in the United States. Among Korean universities, Seoul National University ranked 41st. Five Korean universities entered the top 100 of the world university rankings. Besides Seoul National University, KAIST is 56th, Yonsei University is 76th, Korea University is 79th, and Pohang University of Science and Technology is 100th. This time, Sungkyunkwan University fell a lot, but took 145th place. Hanyang University is ranked 165th, Kyunghee University 332nd, Chung-Ang University 494th, Ewha Womans University 498th, and Kyungpook National University 520th.
