Under the clear autumn sky, a special competition where you can truly rest while looking at the cool Haeundae sea has returned. Haeundae-gu will hold the '2nd Haeundae Staring Competition' at Haeundae Beach at 4 PM on the 28th. This competition is an event designed for citizens who seek relaxation of body and mind away from their daily lives, and it has been held for the second time this year after receiving great interest since its first competition last year.
Applications for participation are available from September 6 to 19 by scanning the QR code or through the Haeundae-gu Office homepage pop-up zone. Up to 100 people will be recruited per team of up to 3 people, and participants will be selected based on their ‘reason for participation’ rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. If you submit a story about why you need rest in your daily life, your participation will be determined based on the validity of the story. This is not a simple competition, but rather a chance for those who truly want peace of mind to participate first.
Contestants must not do anything for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Checking their phones, checking the time, chatting, laughing, eating, etc. are all prohibited, and they must simply focus on 'spacing out'. Since they cannot speak, requests for bathrooms and other necessary things during the contest can be made using four 'hidden cards'. The winner will be decided by combining heart rate records and votes from the on-site citizens, and a performance award will be given to the contestant who presents a creative and fun costume or performance.
Haeundae-gu successfully held its first competition last year, and it was so popular that over 1,500 citizens applied. At the time, out of 70 teams that participated with a competition rate of 18 to 1, a high school student who participated to relieve academic stress won first place, drawing attention. This year, it is expected that many people will have the opportunity to escape from their daily lives, find true relaxation, and create happy memories.
